Virginia Craft Beer Month Day 3: Wolf Hills Lonsome Pine Porter

Abingdon, Virginia's Wolf Hills Brewing Company has been in business for a couple of years now.  Fortunately, I did not have to travel all the way to the far south western corner of Virginia to try my first Wolf Hills Brew.  In celebration of Virginia Craft Beer Month, The Camel (http://www.thecamel.org/) in Richmond is currently featuring Virginia craft beer.  Perhaps featuring is an understatement.  The Camel boasts an impressive 28 taps, and Virginia brewed craft beer is flowing from every one.  The multitude of Commonwealth brewed beer provided me the unique opportunity to try something new, from a brewery I was unfamiliar with.

Wolf Hills Lonesome Pine Porter (Abingdon, VA)
http://wolfhillsbrewing.com/
Style:  Robust Porter
ABV: Unknown

Aroma:
Chocolate and caramel notes, a somewhat subdued roasty aroma, mild earthy hop aroma

Appearance:
Typical bar lighting made it difficult to get a good look at the beer, but it was dark black and poured with a faint head, which dissipated rapidly.

Flavor:
Much more roasty than the aroma would suggest, with notes of chocolate and caramel.  Pretty firm bitterness.

Mouthfeel:
Medium bodied, slight alcohol warmth, well balanced
